Community Service Webinar (PKM): Socialization of Halal Certification in Building a Halal Culinary Business

On Saturday, November 4, 2023, a Community Service (PKM) activity entitled "Socialization of Halal Certification in Building a Halal Culinary Business" was carried out. This activity was carried out virtually through the Zoom Meeting platform which started from 09.00 - 14.20 WITA. This webinar was attended by 179 participants, consisting of culinary entrepreneurs and prospective entrepreneurs, namely students from various regions of East Kalimantan province.

This activity was guided by several moderators, including Mrs. Puardmi Damayanti, M.Pd, Mrs. Shelly Efwinda, M.Pd, and Mr. Atin Nuryadin, Ph.D. With the first resource person, Mrs. Nurdiani Afrilia, S.T.P discussed halal food introduction material, practical guidelines for applying for halal certificates, and halal food business opportunities. The second resource person, Mrs. Dr. Ricka Tesi Muskania, M.Pd reviewed halal food product development innovations. The last speaker, Prof. Laili Komariyah, M.Si discussed business ethics and social responsibility in halal food.

The agenda of the activity began with the opening session, which consisted of submitting the schedule of events, singing the Indonesia Raya song, reciting prayers, remarks by the committee chairman by Mrs. Puardmi Damayanti, M.Pd, opening activities by the head of the PMIPA department, Mr. Dr. Abdul Hakim, M.Pd. Followed by the core of the activity, namely the delivery of resource person CV information by each moderator and presentation of material by each resource person, question and answer session, certificate awarding and closing session in the form of photo documentation.

The results of this activity show that this webinar has provided participants with insights into the procedures for obtaining halal certification and its benefits for the culinary business. They also learned about the implementation of halal certification in the culinary industry so that in the future they are expected to gain an understanding that can improve the quality and consumer confidence in the halal food products produced. Participants also responded well to filling out questionnaires regarding the importance of consuming halal food and its benefits for the body. Based on the results of the activity evaluation questionnaire, it can be seen that this socialization activity makes a positive contribution in the form of the quality of the speakers, committee performance, event structure, facilities, and technology used. Therefore, to optimize the benefits that have been obtained, the committee plans to organize similar activities or support activities related to halal certification in the culinary business in the future.
